Taura is on a circuit of the ship with an eye out for Ford, because he didn't show up for their usual Enclosure run, when she runs into Rhys coming out of his cabin.
She offers him a genuine smile despite her worries about a whole variety of people. "Hi, Rhys."
Rhys, for his own part, is finally beginning to look like himself again. The only slightly weird thing about his appearance is that his prosthetic arm is strapped up against his body, a little awkwardly, taking the weight of it like a sling. He looks up as Taura approaches, and flashes her a smile.
"Oh, hey! Taura! How's it going? I'm just coming out of my cabin. Which I have now."
"Loooooooooong story, but the short answer is no. I was technically homeless for like, four months? Maybe?"
He steps back to let her into his cabin, with it's gunmetal mirror finished floor tiles. All of the fixings on his door are rose gold.
"Oh, the arm is fine, but it's-- it's hooked directly to my nervous system, so if any of those connections come loose, it can get a little janky."
Or if his nervous system takes a pencil to the important parts. But Rhys doesn't want to go there right now. He doesn't feel like listening to more friends stutter through the apology for what Jedao did, immediately followed by the obvious fact that they won't hold it against him.
"That's why you were roommates with the sexy pirate?" Taura
infers, as she steps through the door.
"I hope it gets repaired soon. Do you have the resources here to do
it? Med tech can get pretty specialized, and taking into account how
many universes are represented here..."
Business before appreciating the room, even though she's
looking around appreciatively as she says it.
"Harry's going to look at it, but we're still kind of diagnosing."
He rubs his shoulder absently, he doesn't know why the death toll hasn't fixed it. Just knows that it hasn't. But whatever, the elephant can just stay in the room for all he cares.
"Anyway, come in. Take a load off..."
There's both a chez lounge and an office chair pulled up to a huge mahogany desk that borders on being a spinny throne rather than just a chair.
"I never thought about that. Designing a cabin. I figured we all just got
whatever the Admiral gave us, though I did ask for a modification to
Kepler's when he was my temporary inmate. He was used to being able to
control artificial gravity during space travel, and he got one that was
non-adjustable."
Rhys has seen Taura's very plain cabin. It hadn't occurred to her that
there were options to consider.
"Full mirrored ceiling. Zen garden that becomes an indoor beach. Secret hatches-- he met me half way on the last one and let me put a bunch off my storage space behind like, reversable wall panels."
That huge water feature? Yep, he's stashed a bunch of electrical components behind it.
Taura, still grinning, applauds appreciatively. "If you're going to all
the trouble of designing the cabin, you might as well have fun with it.
Though I think I'm with Quentin on the indoor beach. Beaches are nice, but
I wouldn't want sand all over my floors. Then next thing you know, you'd
step in it, and track it everywhere, and wind up with sand in your bed."

"Wanna see?"

She can't help asking, though, "Is your arm okay?"
Add one more person to the list of people to worry about. It already had Jedao, Quentin, Fives, and Ford on there, what's one more?

Go on Taura grab a seat.

"I love it," she tells him, grinning and gesturing to take in the whole room. "The rose gold details are a nice touch."

"Me and Quentin designed it together last month. So I'd have somewhere to stay."

"You should redecorate! Get all the great stuff Quentin talked me out of!"

A good topic, even if it stings to think too hard about Quentin or the fractures running through the family she's found here.
