[Response comes direct from the familiar fathoms of the Cybernetic Maintainance Facility, where a mostly awake looking Rhys is perched over a coffee of his own.]
And that's good to hear! Keep an eye on that motor control! [A little wave back with his own robot hands. Hand twins!] And oh yeah? What are you working on?
[ He makes a point of fluttering his fingers before giving Rhys a thumbs up.]
Of course! But you folks did good work. Smooooth as butter.
[ He sits up a little more, reaching for one of the notebooks, frowning, then shifting it aside to pull up another with the bright smile of someone who just Found the Thing. He turns the notebook so that Rhys can see a sketched out schematic of a relatively small, just about hand-held device that looks almost like a modern smartphone though significantly thicker, with a slide out keyboard and a number of notes.
There's an additional, smaller schematic and a few notes around that which clearly cover a charging device. ]
This is my current project. A combination AI personal assistant and data storage device. Theoretically pretty basic, but some of the restrictions will be requiring a bit of... creative engineering.
[Rhys props his head on his chin, listening to Keplar outline his project, although immediately his attention is piqued.]
So it's kind of like an ECHO Device? My eye is like-- loaded with proprietary software that I can copy for you to crack if you wanted to start rigging something like that up--
[He's already pulling open one of the tool kits near to him, expression sliding into thoughtfulness.]
Casing might be tricky because we're mostly in the body part business around here, but if you need help with the internal components...
Don't suppose you've got a 3D printer of any kind?
[ He writes down a few things from what Rhys is saying, but he looks up to flicker a grin at him.]
Won't know if it'll work until I know what that 'ECHO Device' of yours can do. But I'd love to see the software. Never reinvent the wheel if you don't have to.
[ He'd been planning on using an appropriate Goddard AI base but he's all for learning new things and better ways to do things. The chance to get a look at that software would be a real value add, definitely for him and potentially for Hange.]
And to be honest, I'm going to need both, if that'd be allowed.
[ He perks up a little. ]
I'm happy to do repair or maintenance work to pay for the time with the tools and the components. Or pay in foodstuffs.
Ah, no 3D printer, no... Maybe ask Elijah, though? My deal is more, chop and change highly customizable parts, he's more about unique custom work. I mean, you know that, but still...
[The yellow of his eye flashes bright for a minute and he throws Kepler a quick smile.]
Well, swing by the lab sometime. I can link the interface from my eye up to a data pad for you to have a look at it, and you can see if something built on it would work for you. And I will always take payment in sugar.
How does a nice batch of chocolate chip and candied orange peel cookies sound to you, hmm?
[ He considers whether or not he'll be able to make the basic components of a 3-D printer in the lab itself. It depends entirely on whether or not he can get the materials. Once you know what you're doing, the things replicate themselves, after all. ]
When can I drop by? My schedule is pretty free around here.
